I see ads like this on facebook and instagram every day. This does not impress me.
What impresses me is building a tidal energy farm to power homes in need, building a geodesic biodome to feed the hungry, providing food and energy to those who cannot afford it. What impresses me is providing a shower to the homeless, helping to build systems that rehabilitate those who suffer so they can survive in our capitalist society. What impresses me is knowledge of the metaphysical, study of consciousness, asking the deep questions "who & what are we, how did we get here, what is the solar system?"
Some of the richest people on the planet are some of the worst human beings to ever walk the face of the earth yet they are not measured by their moral compass, not measured by their aid to society, not measured by their compassion and desire to create a better world for EVERYONE.
No they are measured by the amount of digits in their bank account, their multiple mansions, their fancy cars. Society looks up to them as a role model for being "successful," when we should be looking up to the men and women who volunteer at hospitals, who feed the hungry and provide shelter to the needy. We should be looking up to the men and women who provide their time and services to make the world around them a happier, more loving place to be. We should be looking up to the great thinkers, the philosophers, and the individuals who seek to create a system where everyone has what they need to survive and everything else is a choice. Because happiness, freedom, and survival is our birthright, not something we should have to fight to earn.
